Description

The Sevadis MaxiCharger Gen2 DC DH480 MDH480 480kW Ultra Rapid EV Charger is a high-power commercial DC charging station designed for locations where charging speed, vehicle throughput and charger reliability are critical.

Delivering up to 480kW DC charging power, the MDH480 is designed for demanding applications including public EV charging hubs, motorway and roadside charging locations, fleet depots, logistics centres, commercial vehicle charging, retail destinations, service areas and high-traffic commercial car parks.

The charger combines dual CCS2 charging outputs, liquid-cooled high-current charging cables, a 150–1000V DC output range, 15.6-inch LCD touchscreen, MID-approved metering, RFID access, payment integration, 4G, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and OCPP connectivity in a commercial-grade floor-standing rapid charging unit.

For organisations investing in high-capacity charging infrastructure, the Sevadis MDH480 provides a powerful solution for compatible EVs that can take advantage of ultra-rapid DC charging.

480kW Ultra Rapid DC EV Charging

The MDH480 is the 480kW model within Sevadis' high-power DC DH charging family.

Its current specification includes:

  • Product code: MDH480
  • Maximum output power: 480kW
  • Charging mode: Mode 4 CCS2
  • Output voltage: 150–1000V DC
  • Two CCS2 charging outputs
  • Liquid-cooled cable: 500A
  • Maximum current capability: 650A
  • Peak efficiency: greater than 96%
  • Three-phase 400V AC input

The high output makes the MDH480 particularly suitable for locations where reducing vehicle charging time is more important than providing slower overnight or destination charging.

Actual vehicle charging power depends on the EV's battery voltage, maximum DC charging capability, battery temperature, state of charge and charging curve. A 480kW charger does not mean every electric vehicle will draw 480kW.

Dual CCS2 Charging Outputs

The Sevadis DC DH480 features two CCS2 outputs and supports simultaneous charging.

The left and right charging connections make the unit particularly well suited to installations serving two neighbouring EV charging bays.

This can improve charger utilisation in busy locations such as:

  • Public rapid charging hubs
  • Fleet depots
  • Logistics sites
  • Motorway services
  • Retail parks
  • Commercial car parks
  • Business parks
  • Transport hubs

The MDH480 should be marketed as a 480kW charger with dual CCS2 outputs, rather than as two independent 480kW chargers.

Liquid-Cooled High-Current CCS2 Charging

A key feature of the MDH480 is its liquid-cooled charging cable system.

Sevadis specifies:

500A liquid-cooled cable output with a maximum capability of 650A.

Liquid cooling allows high charging currents to be delivered through a manageable charging cable while controlling heat generated at high power levels.

This is particularly important for high-power DC fast charging and ultra-rapid EV charging applications.

150–1000V DC Output Range

The Sevadis MDH480 operates across a wide 150–1000V DC output range.

This helps provide compatibility across different electric vehicle battery architectures, including modern high-voltage EV platforms.

The wide voltage range makes the charger relevant for:

  • Passenger electric vehicles
  • High-performance EVs
  • Electric vans
  • Commercial electric vehicles
  • Fleet vehicles
  • Future higher-voltage EV platforms

Compatibility and maximum charging speed should always be confirmed for the specific vehicle being charged.

Greater Than 96% Peak Efficiency

The Sevadis DC DH480 has a specified peak efficiency above 96%.

Efficiency becomes increasingly important with a 480kW commercial charger because even relatively small conversion losses can represent significant amounts of energy across thousands of charging sessions.

High conversion efficiency helps reduce unnecessary losses while electricity is converted from the site's AC supply to DC power for the vehicle battery.

15.6-Inch LCD Touchscreen

The current MDH480 manufacturer datasheet specifies a 15.6-inch LCD touchscreen.

This gives drivers a clear interface for starting, monitoring and completing charging sessions.

The charger also supports the Autel Charge app and Autel Charge cloud, providing additional digital management functionality.

A clear touchscreen is particularly important at public charging locations where users may be visiting the charging station for the first time.

RFID Tap-to-Charge

The Sevadis MDH480 supports RFID authentication, allowing authorised users to begin a charging session using an RFID card.

RFID can be particularly useful for:

  • Fleet drivers
  • Employees
  • Account customers
  • Commercial vehicle operators
  • Managed charging networks
  • Membership charging schemes

This provides site operators with greater control over who can access charging infrastructure.

Flexible Payment Options

The Sevadis DC DH platform is designed for commercial and public EV charging and supports flexible payment functionality.

Depending on the selected backend and configuration, access can include:

  • Mobile app
  • RFID card
  • Credit card
  • Smartphone payment

Credit-card functionality requires the appropriate back-office configuration.

This makes the MDH480 particularly suitable for public rapid charging stations and commercial charging hubs where drivers need a simple way to access and pay for charging.

MID-Approved Energy Meter

The Sevadis DC DH platform includes MID-approved energy metering, providing accurate measurement of energy delivered during charging sessions.

This is particularly important for commercial sites where electricity may need to be:

  • Billed to drivers
  • Allocated to fleet vehicles
  • Reimbursed
  • Reported
  • Assigned to employees
  • Monitored by site operators

MID metering therefore gives the MDH480 strong relevance for searches such as 480kW MID metered EV charger, commercial rapid charger for billing and public EV charger with energy meter.

4G, Wi-Fi & Ethernet Connectivity

The MDH480 supports:

  • 4G
  • Wi-Fi
  • Ethernet

These communication options give installers and charging-network operators flexibility when connecting the charger to a back-office management platform.

For example, a motorway or remote public charging location may rely on cellular connectivity, while a fleet depot may prefer a hardwired Ethernet connection.

OCPP Smart Charger Integration

The current Sevadis MDH480 specification supports:

OCPP 1.6J, with OCPP 2.0.1 available as an option.

OCPP allows the charger to integrate with compatible charging-management and back-office platforms.

Depending on the platform selected, operators may be able to manage:

  • Charger status
  • Remote monitoring
  • Charging sessions
  • Users
  • RFID access
  • Energy consumption
  • Pricing
  • Payments
  • Charger faults
  • Fleet activity
  • Multiple charging locations

This makes OCPP particularly important for businesses building a multi-site commercial EV charging network.
