Description

JCC JCEM110023WH EscapeLUX IP65 Emergency Surface Spot

Create discreet, focused emergency lighting without cutting a large recess into the ceiling with the JCC JCEM110023WH EscapeLUX emergency surface spot. Its compact round profile provides a cleaner alternative to a traditional rectangular emergency bulkhead, making it suitable for corridors, stairways, open areas, offices, hospitality venues and commercial escape routes.

The fitting offers two emergency light distributions. It produces up to 280 lumens with the open-area lens configuration or 230 lumens with the corridor lens configuration, allowing the emergency lighting design to target the required space more effectively.

Open-area and corridor illumination

The open-area distribution spreads emergency illumination across wider spaces such as landings, reception areas, offices and open circulation zones. It delivers 280 lumens with an efficiency of 140 lumens per emergency circuit watt.

The corridor distribution directs the light along narrower routes, making it appropriate for corridors, passageways and defined escape paths. This configuration produces 230 lumens at 115 lumens per emergency circuit watt.

The correct optical configuration, fitting quantity and spacing must be established using the appropriate JCC photometric data and project-specific emergency lighting calculations.

Compact surface-mounted design

Unlike a recessed emergency downlight, the JCEM110023WH mounts directly onto the ceiling surface. This can be particularly useful where the ceiling void is restricted, recessed installation is unsuitable or disruption to the existing ceiling must be minimised.

The fitting measures approximately 155.5mm in diameter and only 46mm high. Its white finish blends neatly with many standard commercial ceilings.

Manual or automatic self-testing

Electricians can select manual-test or automatic self-test operation during installation. When configured for self-testing, the fitting performs scheduled checks of the battery connection, LED module and emergency duration.

A bi-colour indicator reports the luminaire’s condition. Green indicates normal operation or a test in progress, while different red indicator patterns identify battery, light-source or duration faults.

Automatic testing supports efficient maintenance, but visual inspections, fault investigation and an accurate emergency lighting logbook remain necessary.

Three-hour non-maintained emergency lighting

The JCEM110023WH operates in non-maintained mode. It remains off during normal conditions and automatically activates from its internal battery when the permanent mains supply fails.

Its 3.2V 3300mAh LiFePO₄ battery provides a minimum three-hour emergency duration after completing the required 24-hour uninterrupted initial charge.

IP65 protection for demanding locations

The EscapeLUX surface spot is specified as IP65, providing complete protection against dust and resistance to water jets. This makes it suitable for many demanding indoor, damp and correctly designed sheltered applications.

Correct cable entry, fixing and sealing methods must be used to maintain the fitting’s IP rating. It must not be submerged or installed where it will be exposed to continuous running water.

FAQ's

What is the JCC JCEM110023WH EscapeLUX Emergency Surface Spot?

The JCC JCEM110023WH is a compact, round emergency LED fitting that mounts directly onto a ceiling. It provides non-maintained emergency illumination for corridors, open areas, stairways and commercial escape routes.

Is the JCC JCEM110023WH EscapeLUX fitting recessed or surface mounted?

It is surface mounted and does not require the large ceiling cut-out associated with a recessed emergency downlight. This makes it useful for solid ceilings, restricted voids and retrofit projects.

What is the light output of the JCC JCEM110023WH Emergency Surface Spot?

The fitting produces 280 lumens with the open-area distribution or 230 lumens with the corridor distribution. The correct option depends on the area being illuminated and the emergency lighting calculations.

What is the difference between the JCC JCEM110023WH open-area and corridor distributions?

The open-area distribution spreads light across a wider space, while the corridor distribution directs illumination along a narrower escape route. JCC provides separate photometric information for calculating each arrangement.
