Integrate dependable emergency lighting into dark ceilings and contemporary commercial interiors with the JCC JCEM110023BLK EscapeLUX emergency surface spot. Its compact black enclosure offers a discreet alternative to a conventional white emergency bulkhead, particularly in cinemas, hospitality venues, offices, retail spaces and buildings with exposed services.
The fitting provides two specialist emergency light distributions. It delivers up to 280 lumens for open-area applications or 230 lumens for corridor and escape-route lighting. The appropriate optical arrangement should be selected according to the project’s photometric calculations.
Designed for open areas and corridors
The open-area distribution spreads emergency light across wider spaces such as landings, reception areas, open-plan offices and public circulation zones. This configuration produces 280 lumens with an efficiency of 140 lumens per emergency circuit watt.
The corridor distribution directs the light along longer, narrower routes. It produces 230 lumens at 115 lumens per emergency circuit watt, making it suitable for corridors, passageways and defined escape paths.
Using the correct distribution can improve emergency coverage and help avoid unnecessary fittings. Final spacing must be established using the appropriate JCC photometric data.
Discreet surface-mounted installation
The JCEM110023BLK mounts directly onto the ceiling rather than requiring a large recessed cut-out. This is beneficial for solid ceilings, restricted voids and retrofit projects where cutting into the existing surface is undesirable.
Its compact round housing measures 155.5mm in diameter and only 46mm high. The black finish coordinates effectively with exposed ceilings, dark decorative schemes, black track lighting and matching building services.
Manual or automatic self-test selection
The installer can configure the fitting for manual testing or automatic self-test operation. Self-test mode automatically checks the battery connection, battery discharge and LED module through scheduled functional and duration tests.
A bi-colour indicator communicates the luminaire’s status. Green identifies normal operation or a test in progress, while red indicator sequences report battery, lamp or emergency-duration failures.
Self-testing supports efficient maintenance, but responsible personnel must continue to perform visual inspections, respond to reported faults and maintain the building’s emergency lighting records.
Three-hour non-maintained operation
The JCEM110023BLK is a non-maintained emergency fitting. It remains off during normal mains operation and automatically illuminates from its internal battery when the permanent supply fails.
A 3.2V 3300mAh LiFePO₄ battery provides a minimum three-hour emergency duration after completing the required initial 24-hour uninterrupted charge.
