The JCC JC74003 Rakula LED Downlight is a high-output commercial recessed light designed for larger ceiling apertures and demanding general-lighting applications. It combines selectable 14W or 20W power, three selectable colour temperatures and an IP65-rated white housing, giving electricians greater flexibility across refurbishment and new-build projects.

Producing up to 2400 lumens, this larger-format Rakula downlight is suitable for offices, schools, hotels, retail premises, reception areas, healthcare buildings, corridors, communal spaces and other commercial interiors requiring bright, dependable illumination.

High-output commercial lighting

The JC74003 offers two selectable wattage and lumen-output levels:

• 14W produces approximately 1690 lumens for efficient general lighting and areas with closer fitting spacing
• 20W produces approximately 2400 lumens for larger rooms, higher ceilings or spaces requiring stronger illumination

This selectable performance allows the contractor to use the same visible fitting across different parts of a building while adjusting the output to suit each area.

With efficiency of up to approximately 121 lumens per circuit watt, the Rakula can help reduce energy use when replacing older compact fluorescent, halogen or inefficient commercial downlights.

Wide light distribution

The 56-degree beam angle produces broad downward illumination, making the JC74003 suitable for general room lighting rather than narrow accent lighting. Its wider distribution helps illuminate floors, desks, counters and circulation areas while supporting more even spacing between fittings.

For professional projects, final quantities and spacing should be confirmed through a lighting design based on ceiling height, room dimensions, surface reflectance and required lux levels.

Three selectable colour temperatures

The colour temperature can be configured during installation:

• 3000K warm white for hotels, reception areas, restaurants and comfortable customer-facing environments
• 4000K neutral white for offices, schools, corridors, shops and general commercial interiors
• 5700K daylight white for bright, task-orientated workplaces and service areas

Having three CCT settings in one product helps wholesalers and electrical contractors reduce the number of separate lighting variants needed for a project.

Designed for larger ceiling apertures

The JC74003 is intended for 145–155mm ceiling cut-outs and has an overall diameter of 174mm. This makes it especially useful when replacing older large-format commercial downlights without reducing or extensively repairing the existing ceiling opening.

The fitting measures approximately 87mm deep and requires a minimum 100mm ceiling void. Spring clips provide secure recessed mounting, while the separate driver includes loop-in/loop-out terminals for practical circuit installation.

The driver also provides permanent-live and earth provision, supporting continuous circuit wiring and compatible emergency-lighting arrangements where specified.

Suitable for demanding interior environments

An IP65 rating provides protection against dust and water jets. This supports installation in bathrooms, washrooms and other demanding indoor locations, provided the electrician confirms the relevant zone requirements and compliance with BS 7671.

The fitting is also TP(a)-rated, making it appropriate for projects where the performance of thermoplastic lighting components forms part of the specification. TP(a) classification does not mean that the downlight is fire-rated for maintaining ceiling integrity.

The JC74003 is the non-dimmable Rakula model. It should be connected to a standard switched circuit and must not be used with a dimmer. Separate Rakula products are available for Triac, DALI, 1–10V and switch-dim applications.
