Description
The JCC JC74000 Rakula LED Downlight is a versatile commercial recessed light with selectable wattage, three colour-temperature settings and a wide cut-out tolerance. Designed for new installations and refurbishment projects, it provides electricians with a flexible replacement for older compact fluorescent and large-aperture downlights.
Its clean white finish, strong lumen output and wider 56-degree beam angle make it suitable for offices, schools, corridors, reception areas, retail premises, hotels, communal spaces and larger residential interiors.
Selectable output for different lighting requirements
The JC74000 allows the installer to choose between two power settings:
- 7W delivers approximately 840 lumens for smaller areas, lower energy consumption or closer downlight spacing
- 10W delivers approximately 1180 lumens for larger rooms, brighter commercial environments and more demanding lighting layouts
Providing up to approximately 120 lumens per circuit watt, the Rakula delivers useful illumination while supporting energy-efficient commercial lighting upgrades.
Its 56-degree beam angle creates broader light distribution than a narrow spotlight. This helps produce comfortable general illumination across floors, desks, counters and circulation areas while reducing the risk of pronounced bright and dark patches between fittings.
Three selectable colour temperatures
Customers and electricians can choose from three colour settings during installation:
- 3000K warm white for hotels, restaurants, reception areas and comfortable residential spaces
- 4000K neutral white for offices, classrooms, corridors, kitchens and general commercial areas
- 5700K daylight white for bright, task-focused workplaces and service environments
The selectable colour temperature makes it easier to coordinate the lighting with interior finishes, customer expectations and the purpose of each room.
Practical option for refurbishment projects
The 114mm diameter bezel is designed to cover larger ceiling openings, while the fitting accommodates 90–102mm ceiling cut-outs. This makes the JC74000 particularly useful where older downlights are being replaced and the existing aperture is too large for a conventional domestic fitting.
A minimum ceiling void of 85mm is required. Spring clips secure the luminaire within the ceiling, while the supplied driver includes loop-in/loop-out terminals with permanent-live and earth provision to support efficient circuit installation.
The fitting is Class II, but the earth provision allows circuit protective conductor continuity to be maintained through the lighting circuit where required.
IP65 protection and TP(a) performance
The IP65 rating provides protection against dust and water jets, supporting installation in bathrooms, washrooms and other demanding interior environments. The electrician must still confirm the exact bathroom zone, circuit protection and compliance with BS 7671.
The Rakula is also TP(a)-rated, making it suitable for specification-led projects where the performance of thermoplastic lighting components must be considered. TP(a) classification should not be confused with a fire-rated ceiling downlight.
JC74000 is supplied as a non-dimmable fitting. Triac, DALI, 1–10V and switch-dim versions are available elsewhere in the Rakula range, but this particular product should be connected only to a standard switched lighting circuit.
