Installing LED tape directly onto furniture, walls or ceilings can leave the individual LEDs and adhesive backing exposed. The JC121362 houses the strip inside a slim aluminium channel, creating a smarter finished appearance while offering additional physical protection for the LED tape.

Its opal diffuser helps soften the visible light and reduce direct glare from individual LEDs. The smoothness of the finished light line will depend on the LED density, spacing and type of tape installed, but the profile can help produce a cleaner and more comfortable lighting effect than exposed strip alone.

Practical installation for electricians and lighting contractors

The JCC JC121362 is a surface-mounted profile, making it suitable where cutting a recessed channel is not possible or desirable. Its compact dimensions of approximately 500mm long, 23.5mm wide and 10mm high allow it to be installed discreetly onto suitable flat surfaces.

The aluminium construction creates a stable mounting surface and can assist with heat transfer from compatible LED tape. However, electricians must still check the strip wattage, driver capacity, ventilation requirements and maximum permitted continuous run specified by the LED-strip manufacturer.

Compatible 10mm-wide LED tape can normally be cut at its marked cutting points to match the profile length. The strip should be tested before the diffuser and end caps are fitted, particularly where soldered connections or cut lengths are used.

Rated IP20, the profile is intended for dry indoor environments. The IP rating of the completed installation will depend on the LED strip, connections, driver and installation method; the aluminium channel does not make a non-waterproof strip suitable for wet or outdoor locations.
