The Humax MX7 7.4kW smart EV charger with 7.5m tethered cable gives you more flexibility when positioning your home charge point. Its longer, permanently attached Type 2 cable is useful where your parking space sits further from the charger or your vehicle’s charging port is harder to reach.
Finished in black, this wall-mounted home EV charger combines everyday charging convenience with app control, off-peak scheduling and solar charging support. It is designed for compatible electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a Type 2 AC charging connection.
Longer 7.5m Cable for More Flexible Parking
The 7.5m tethered version provides 2.5m more cable than the 5m MX7, giving you extra reach between the charger and your vehicle. This can make a difference on longer driveways, in garages or where the most suitable mounting position is further from the car.
Because the charging cable stays attached to the unit, there is no separate lead to retrieve and connect to the charger before each session. Check the distance to your vehicle’s charging port in its usual parking position, allowing for the route the cable will need to take.
Up to 7.4kW Single-Phase Home Charging
Rated at 32A on a single-phase 230V supply, the MX7 delivers up to 7.4kW AC charging. It provides a dedicated home charging point for drivers who want to recharge around their daily routine.
The charging rate your car receives depends on its onboard AC charger, the available electrical capacity and the installer’s settings. Vehicles with a lower AC charging limit will charge at their supported rate.
App Control and Off-Peak Charging Schedules
Use the Humax Charge app to start or stop charging remotely, monitor charging activity, review energy consumption and set charging schedules.
For households on an electricity tariff with cheaper off-peak periods, scheduling lets you plan charging around those hours. You can plug the vehicle in when you arrive home and set charging to take place later, rather than waiting to connect it overnight.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE and Ethernet connectivity provide connection options, while RFID authentication and app access controls help you manage who can use the charge point.
Solar-Compatible EV Charging
The MX7 supports Auto Solar charging with a compatible solar PV installation. This prioritises the home’s electricity needs before directing available surplus solar generation towards charging the vehicle.
It is a useful feature for homeowners looking to use more of their own solar electricity. Your installer should confirm the monitoring arrangements and configuration required for your system.
Designed for Outdoor Installation
The tethered MX7 carries IP65 ingress protection and IK10 impact protection. Built-in features include PEN fault protection, temperature monitoring and tamper detection.
A qualified EV charge point installer must assess the property’s electrical supply, select a suitable mounting location and provide the required installation protection.
V2G-Ready Hardware
The MX7 includes PLC hardware and ISO 15118 communication support intended for future vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home services. Humax currently states that V2G and V2H are not commercially supported, so exporting electricity to the grid or powering your home is not an available purchasing benefit.
The charger comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty when registered online, subject to Humax’s warranty terms and installation requirements.
