Description

Warm white garden lighting with the driver included

The Collingwood SL220BK30MF is a black, mains-powered LED garden spike light for highlighting planting, tree trunks and landscape features. It produces 520 lumens from 5.7W, with fixed 3000K warm white light that gives outdoor spaces a softer appearance.

This exact model includes its LED driver and connects to a 220–240V AC supply. It is the mains-voltage version of the SL220, making it a useful choice where the installation is designed around mains wiring rather than a separate constant-current driver.

A 40° beam with an adjustable head

The 40° beam provides broader feature illumination than the narrow 12° version in the range. It can be used to pick out planting or reveal the shape and texture of a tree trunk without lighting the whole garden uniformly.

The head tilts through 90°, allowing the installer to direct the light after positioning the spike. The beam angle itself is fixed: adjustment changes where the light points, rather than turning it into a zoom spotlight.

For the best visual result, plan the fitting position around the feature and normal viewing positions, including paths, windows and seating areas.

Black anodised aluminium for outdoor installation

The fitting has a black anodised aluminium housing, an IP65 rating and manufacturer-stated suitability for coastal areas. The black finish helps it sit discreetly within planted borders and other landscaped areas.

A 3m H05RN-F rubberised cable is supplied, providing a practical connection lead for the installation. Multiple mains-voltage fittings are wired in parallel, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Suitable waterproof connection accessories are purchased separately. Collingwood recommends IP68 connectors for the joints, including its JB1 or JB5 products. As a Class I fitting, this model requires a protective earth connection.

Optional accessories for glare control

Where the light source would otherwise be visible from a nearby path or patio, compatible accessories can help shield it.

The GS220 snoot provides shielding around the source, while the GH220 hood reduces glare from one side. Both are separate accessories, with black versions available to match the fitting.

Fixed-output operation and professional servicing

This model is non-dimmable, with a fixed 5.7W power rating and fixed 3000K colour temperature. It does not include a PIR sensor or photocell.

Collingwood publishes an L70 70,000-hour LED lifetime. Its installation instructions permit replacement of the LED light source and driver by the manufacturer, service agent or a similarly qualified professional.

FAQ's

Does this model need a separate LED driver?

No additional driver is required for normal operation. SL220BK30MF includes its driver and is designed for connection to a 220–240V AC supply.

What is the difference between MF and XF versions?

The MF version is mains powered, with its driver included. The corresponding XF version uses a separately specified constant-current driver. Their supply and wiring arrangements must not be treated as interchangeable.

What is the difference between SL220BK30MF and SL220BK30MS?

Both are black, 3000K mains models. MF has a 40° beam, while MS has a narrower 12° beam for more concentrated illumination.

How much light does it produce?

The published output is 520 lumens from 5.7W. This is a fixed-output model, rather than the selectable-current arrangement used by the low-voltage versions.

Is 3000K warm white or cool white?

It is warm white. This exact model has a fixed 3000K colour temperature and does not switch between different light colours.

Is the fitting dimmable?

No. Collingwood lists this exact mains model as non-dimmable. It should not be connected to a dimmer on the assumption that all LED garden lights support dimming.

Can I adjust the beam from 12° to 40°?

No. The optic is fixed at 40°. The head’s 90° tilt changes the direction of the light, not the beam width.

Does it have a PIR sensor or dusk-to-dawn photocell?

Neither is included. Any automatic switching needs to be specified separately, with suitable compatibility and load ratings.
