Description

Collingwood Flex Bay Emergency LED High Bay

The Collingwood Flex Bay HBAS1V40EMS is a black emergency LED high bay for industrial and commercial lighting projects. With selectable 100W, 125W and 150W settings, it allows the installer to choose the normal lighting output to suit the scheme while retaining a consistent fitting throughout the building.

Its fixed 4000K cool white light and 90° beam make it a useful option for warehouse, workshop and production-area lighting, with fitting positions and quantities selected through the project’s lighting design.

Three power settings, clearly matched to light output

Choose from the following normal operating settings:

Selected wattage Normal light output
100W 15,000 lumens
125W 18,800 lumens
150W 22,500 lumens

These figures describe mains-powered operation. They should not be used as the emergency light output.

The colour temperature remains 4000K at every setting. Wattage selection changes the operating power and light output rather than the colour of the light.

Emergency version with manual or self-test selection

HBAS1V40EMS is the emergency version of the 100–150W Flex Bay. Collingwood specifies selectable manual-test or self-test emergency operation for this version.

This makes the exact product code important when ordering: HBAS1V40 is the corresponding standard model, while HBAS1V40EMS includes emergency functionality. Emergency lighting positions and coverage should follow the building’s emergency lighting design.

Dimming and optional lighting controls

The fitting supports 0–10V dimming for use with a compatible control arrangement. This is separate from selecting one of its three wattage settings.

A central twist-and-lock Zhaga interface accepts compatible optional sensors and control modules. Collingwood offers PIR, microwave, daylight and wireless options, allowing the lighting scheme to respond to occupancy or available daylight.

Sensors are purchased separately. For example, the HBPIRDLD combines PIR detection with daylight harvesting, enabling the light output to respond to changes in natural light.

Practical construction and installation

The ADC12 aluminium-alloy housing has a black finish, with IP65 ingress protection and IK08 impact resistance. The driver is removable to assist maintenance, while the LED light source has a stated L80 lifetime of 50,000 hours.

The fitting comes pre-wired with a 1m H05RN-F 3 × 1.0mm² flying lead. Collingwood lists jack chain, M10 drop rod and catenary wire suspension as mounting methods.

Specification

The Collingwood Flex Bay HBAS1V40EMS is a black emergency LED high bay for industrial and commercial buildings, including warehouse and workshop lighting schemes. It offers three selectable normal operating settings: 100W producing 15,000 lumens, 125W producing 18,800 lumens and 150W producing 22,500 lumens. All settings use fixed 4000K cool white light with a 90° beam. This exact model is the emergency version, with selectable manual-test or self-test operation; its normal lumen figures are separate from emergency output. It features 0–10V dimming, IP65 protection, IK08 impact resistance, an ADC12 aluminium housing and a removable driver. A central Zhaga interface supports separately purchased occupancy, daylight and wireless controls. The fitting is pre-wired with a 1m H05RN-F 3 × 1.0mm² lead and supports jack chain, M10 drop rod or catenary wire suspension.

FAQ's

What is the difference between wattage selection and 0–10V dimming?

Wattage selection sets the fitting’s normal operating output: 100W/15,000 lumens, 125W/18,800 lumens or 150W/22,500 lumens. The 0–10V interface provides a separate means of controlling brightness through compatible lighting controls. Selecting a lower wattage does not change the fixed 4000K colour temperature.

Does 0–10V dimming mean the fitting switches off at 0V?

Not necessarily. The published information does not confirm the minimum dimming level or whether the driver supports dim-to-off. Confirm the driver’s control behaviour before designing a system that relies on the control signal to switch the light off completely.

Is the main LED driver DALI-2 addressable?

The exact model listing specifies 0–10V dimming for the main light source. DALI-2 appears among the emergency options, which does not establish DALI-2 control of the main driver. Treat normal-lighting control and emergency testing as separate specification requirements.

How many fittings can one 0–10V controller operate?

Collingwood’s reviewed product information does not give an approved maximum. The limit depends on the controller’s capacity and the driver’s control-interface characteristics. Obtain the relevant driver data and controller instructions before grouping fittings on one control circuit.

Does the supplied three-core cable provide the complete control wiring arrangement?

The stated 1m H05RN-F 3 × 1.0mm² flying lead describes the supplied mains lead. It does not establish the termination arrangement for wired dimming or emergency connections. Use the wiring diagram supplied with the exact luminaire and emergency equipment when planning cables and connections.

Which optional sensor provides occupancy detection and daylight harvesting?

Collingwood lists HBPIRDLD for Flex Bay. It combines PIR occupancy detection with daylight harvesting, allowing the fitting to respond to movement and changes in available natural light. The sensor is an additional accessory rather than an included feature of HBAS1V40EMS.

What is the difference between a daylight threshold and daylight harvesting?

A daylight threshold determines whether the lighting should operate according to the available light level. Daylight harvesting adjusts the light output as natural daylight changes. HBPIRDLD supports both functions, so commissioning should reflect the intended room behaviour.

What installation height is specified for HBPIRDLD?

Collingwood gives a typical installation height of 8–12m for this optional sensor. That figure relates to the sensor’s application; it is not a universal mounting-height recommendation for the high bay. Check detection coverage and the lighting design separately.

Can the occupancy sensor maintain background lighting when an area becomes vacant?

Yes. HBPIRDLD provides selectable standby dimming levels of 10%, 20%, 30% or 50%, together with adjustable standby periods. This allows background illumination to be configured instead of immediately switching the normal lighting off, subject to the selected settings.

How is the PIR and daylight-harvesting sensor commissioned?

Collingwood specifies the UNREMOTEMWS remote controller for commissioning HBPIRDLD. Adjustable parameters include hold time, standby level, standby period and daylight threshold. Check the actual settings during commissioning rather than relying on factory defaults.

Can Flex Bay be incorporated into a Casambi wireless lighting scheme?

Yes, using compatible optional accessories. Collingwood lists CASZHAGASB and CASZHAGAMB within the Flex Bay accessory options. These provide a route to Casambi wireless control; the standard fitting should not be described as having built-in Casambi connectivity without the required module.

How many HBAS1V40EMS fittings can be installed on one MCB?

An approved maximum has not been established from the reviewed documents. Steady-state wattage alone is insufficient to determine the quantity because driver inrush, protective-device characteristics and the complete circuit design also matter. Obtain confirmed driver and circuit-loading information before specifying a maximum.

Can the normal lumen figures be used for emergency lighting calculations?

No. The 15,000–22,500-lumen figures describe normal mains-powered operation. Emergency calculations require the emergency output and photometric data for the equipment actually supplied, assessed at the proposed mounting height and layout.

Does self-test provide central emergency-lighting monitoring?

Self-test and central monitoring are different functions. Selecting local self-test operation does not establish communication with a building’s monitoring system. Where DALI emergency monitoring is required, confirm the exact emergency converter and system compatibility before ordering.

What does the L80 50,000-hour rating mean?

L80 describes lumen maintenance: the stated lifetime corresponds to 80% of the initial LED light output under the specified conditions. It is not a promise that every component will operate without failure for 50,000 hours, and it is separate from the warranty.

What does SDCM5 indicate?

SDCM describes variation in light colour between LEDs. Collingwood lists SDCM5 for Flex Bay. This is useful when assessing colour consistency across an
