Collingwood DL507CRM H5 500 Polished Chrome Fire Rated LED Downlight | 5W, IP65, Dimmable, 3 Colour Temperatures

A polished chrome downlight with control over the finished look

The Collingwood H5 500 DL507CRM is a recessed LED downlight for rooms where you want a clean ceiling finish without giving up useful lighting control. Its polished chrome bezel suits interiors with chrome taps, handles and other reflective details, while the adjustable head lets you angle light towards a wall, worktop or feature. This is the 5W, mains-dimmable DL507CRM version, supplied with a silver reflector. Other magnetic reflector finishes are separate accessories.

A switch on top of the fitting lets the installer select 2700K, 3000K or 4000K before or during installation. Choose 2700K for a softer, warmer appearance, 3000K for versatile warm white room lighting, or 4000K for a crisper look. The colour temperature is selected at the fitting; an ordinary dimmer adjusts brightness, not the chosen colour temperature. At the three respective settings, Collingwood’s current product PDF lists 630, 650 and 730 lumens for this exact polished chrome code. The light’s 50° beam and 20° adjustment provide more control over where it lands than a fixed downlight.

The H5 500 is designed for a comfortable ceiling appearance, with a published UGR 18 low-glare figure and CRI >80 colour rendering. Its IP65 rating supports installation in suitable indoor locations where protection against moisture is needed. Collingwood lists UK bathroom Zone 1, ceiling only, in the product data; the location and complete electrical installation still need to be checked for the particular bathroom. It is also a useful choice for kitchens, living spaces and other interiors that call for a larger, adjustable recessed downlight.

Designed around the ceiling installation

The specified ceiling cut-out is 110–115mm, making this a product to check carefully against an existing opening before ordering. Collingwood lists a maximum ceiling thickness of 40mm, a plug-and-play connector and suitability for covering with rolled and blown insulation when installed according to its instructions. The downlight is Class II, operates from 220–240V AC, and is wired in parallel when several fittings share a circuit. Its integrated LED has an L70 rated life of 70,000 hours.

Collingwood identifies the H5 500 as a fire-rated downlight, with approvals for specified solid timber and I-joist ceiling constructions. The exact fire performance depends on the tested ceiling assembly and installation details. A particularly important retrofit point: Collingwood states that using its larger-hole converter plate retains the IP rating but means the product is no longer fire-rated. If the existing ceiling opening is too large, assess the ceiling’s fire requirements before choosing a converter plate as the solution.

For an everyday room, DL507CRM gives you warm-to-neutral colour choices, brightness control with a suitable mains LED dimmer, and the option to tilt the light away from its straight-down position. For an electrician, the 110–115mm cut-out, ceiling approval, insulation detail and dimmer compatibility are the key checks before installation.

FAQ's

Is DL507CRM polished chrome or brushed steel?
DL507CRM is polished chrome. Collingwood gives the brushed steel and matt white versions different product codes, so check the suffix when matching existing fittings.

Can I choose warm white or cool white?
Yes. The fitting has a switch for 2700K, 3000K or 4000K. These give a softer warm appearance, a versatile warm white, and a crisper white appearance respectively.

Can I change the colour temperature from the wall switch?
The colour selection switch is on top of the fitting for selection before or during installation. It is not described as a wall-switch colour-cycling product.

Is it dimmable?
Yes. This exact code is listed for mains leading-edge/trailing-edge dimming. Use a compatible LED dimmer selected for the number of downlights on the circuit.

How bright is the polished chrome version?
Collingwood’s current PDF gives 630lm at 2700K, 650lm at 3000K and 730lm at 4000K. These figures are specific to DL507CRM; other H5 500 finishes have different published outputs.
