Click Scolmore CMA796 Mode 13A 2 Gang Switched Socket Outlet With Twin Type C USB (4.2A) Outlets

Power two mains appliances while charging modern USB-C devices with the Scolmore Click Mode CMA796 13A two-gang switched socket. Combining two standard UK socket outlets with two integrated USB Type-C ports, it provides a practical all-in-one charging solution for bedrooms, kitchens, home offices, living rooms, hotels and commercial interiors.

Both USB-C ports support PD20W USB Power Delivery fast charging, allowing compatible smartphones, tablets, power banks, earbuds and other portable devices to charge without separate plug-in adaptors. Scolmore specifies up to 3A independent charging from either USB-C port, with a combined 4.2A shared output when two devices are connected. An intelligent charging chip automatically adjusts the available output according to the connected load.

The USB-C charging points are positioned centrally between the two socket outlets, leaving both 13A mains sockets available for lamps, televisions, computers, kitchen appliances and other suitable electrical equipment. Actual charging speed will depend on the connected device, USB-C cable and supported charging protocol.

Each UK socket has its own rocker switch, allowing connected equipment to be switched off without removing the plug. The outlets also include three-pin safety shutters, helping restrict accidental access to live contacts when no plug is inserted. The switches use single-pole operation.

Finished in polar white, the CMA796 has the smooth, rounded appearance associated with the Click Mode range. Its clean moulded design coordinates with matching Click Mode switches, fused connection units, telephone outlets and other white wiring accessories. Scolmore also lists the accessory as antiviral and antibacterial certified.

The socket is rated at 13A, 250V AC and 50Hz. Its rear screw terminals accept up to three 2.5mm² or two 4mm² solid conductors, with a recommended terminal torque of 1.2Nm. Twin earth terminals are included to support suitable electrical circuit arrangements.

Measuring approximately 146mm wide, 86mm high and 9.5mm deep, the socket uses standard 120.6mm horizontal fixing centres. It requires a minimum 25mm mounting box, allowing it to replace many compatible standard two-gang sockets without needing an unusually deep back box. Available wiring space and circuit suitability must still be checked before installation.

The CMA796 has an IP20 rating for protected indoor environments and an operating-temperature range of approximately -5°C to +40°C. Its USB electronics consume around 0.1W on standby, and Scolmore confirms that the USB circuits are designed to withstand insulation-resistance testing at 500V.

Scolmore provides a 25-year warranty for the wiring accessory and a separate two-year warranty for the USB electronics, subject to its warranty conditions. The socket complies with BS 1363-2 and the relevant USB charging and electromagnetic-compatibility standards listed in the current specification.
