Description
Power a standard UK appliance and charge two portable devices from one compact wall outlet with the Scolmore Click Mode CMA785 13A single switched socket. It combines a conventional three-pin mains socket with one USB Type-A port and one USB Type-C port, reducing the need for separate plug-in USB charging adaptors.
The two USB connections provide a combined 5V DC, 4A shared charging output. When used independently, Scolmore lists up to 2.4A from the USB-A port and up to 3A from the USB-C port. An intelligent charging chip adjusts the available output according to the connected device load.
This combination makes the CMA785 particularly useful beside beds, sofas, desks, kitchen worktops and reception counters. The USB-A port supports compatible traditional charging cables, while the USB-C connection accommodates newer phones, tablets, earbuds, power banks and other suitable portable devices.
The USB-C port provides standard 5V charging and is not specified as a USB Power Delivery or PD fast-charging outlet. Charging performance will depend on the connected device, cable and power requirements. Customers requiring PD20W charging should select a compatible Scolmore PD-rated socket instead.
The UK mains outlet is rated at 13A, 250V AC and 50Hz. It incorporates a three-pin safety shutter to help restrict accidental access to the live contacts when no plug is inserted. A single-pole rocker switch allows the connected mains appliance to be switched off without removing its plug.
Finished in polar white, the CMA785 has the smooth, rounded profile associated with the Click Mode range. Its moulded urea front plate and matching rocker provide a clean appearance that coordinates with other polar white Click Mode sockets, switches and wiring accessories. Scolmore also lists the white moulded accessory as antimicrobial certified.
The accessory measures approximately 86mm wide, 86mm high and 9.5mm deep, with standard 60.3mm horizontal fixing centres. It requires a minimum 25mm mounting box, making it suitable for many compatible replacement and new-build installations where sufficient room remains for the conductors and terminal connections.
Rear screw terminals accept up to three 2.5mm² or two 4mm² solid conductors, with a recommended tightening torque of 1.2Nm. Twin earth terminals are included to support suitable circuit arrangements.
The CMA785 is IP20 rated for protected indoor environments and is designed to operate between approximately -5°C and +40°C. The USB charging circuit consumes around 0.1W on standby and is designed to withstand 500V insulation-resistance testing.
