Description

CED Airmaster HC2TIM 2kW Portable Convector Heater with 24-Hour Timer, Thermostat and 3 Heat Settings

Need extra warmth in your living room while you relax, or in your home office during the working day? The CED Airmaster HC2TIM is a portable 2kW electric convector heater that stands on the floor and plugs into a UK socket. Its lightweight design and carry handles make it convenient to position in a suitable room, while its slim white body takes up less floor space than a bulky radiator.

The useful difference with this model is its built-in 24-hour timer. Set the periods when you want the heater available, using segments of 15 minutes, and choose from 750W, 1250W or 2000W heat settings. A variable thermostat helps maintain your chosen level of warmth by switching the heat in response to the room temperature. It is a straightforward option when you want a room warm for part of the day without having to remember to switch the heater on and off each time.

The HC2TIM operates quietly because this timer model does not use the turbo fan fitted to a different version in the range. Its convection heating lets warm air rise naturally through the room. CED also lists overheat protection and a tip-over safety cut-out. The heater is intended to stand on its feet on a stable, level surface, with its air openings kept clear.

This is the plug-in, floor-standing HC2TIM model. It comes with a 1.8m cable and BS1363 UK plug, according to CED’s catalogue. It is not wall mounted and its timer is a 24-hour dial, rather than a seven-day digital programmer. CED lists the heater’s dimensions as approximately 590mm wide × 430mm high × 210mm deep.

FAQ's

Do I need an electrician to install it?
It is a plug-in, floor-standing heater, so it does not need to be hard-wired for normal use. Fit its feet and position it as directed in the instructions before switching it on.

Can I mount the HC2TIM on a wall?
CED’s catalogue describes HC2TIM as free standing and not wall mountable. Use it on its feet on a suitable level floor.

How does the timer work?
It is a 24-hour mechanical timer with 15-minute segments. Set the current time on the dial, then select the periods when you want the heater to operate. It is designed around a daily schedule, rather than separate programmes for each day of the week.

Can I use it without setting the timer?
Yes. The heater has manual operation as well as its timer function. Its instructions show a control for choosing timer or manual use.

What heat settings does it have?
CED lists 750W, 1250W and 2000W settings. This lets you choose a lower or higher output depending on how much additional heat you need.

What does the thermostat do?
The variable thermostat responds to the room temperature to control when the heater produces heat. The heat-setting switches choose the available output; the thermostat helps you manage the temperature.

Does this model have a fan?
No turbo fan is specified for HC2TIM. CED lists a separate HC2TF turbo-fan version. Choose HC2TIM if you want the timer and quieter convection operation described for this model.

How much does it cost to run for an hour?
At the 2000W setting, one hour of continuous heating uses approximately 2kWh. At 1250W, it is approximately 1.25kWh, and at 750W, approximately 0.75kWh. Multiply the relevant figure by your electricity tariff per kWh to estimate the cost. Actual consumption can be lower when the thermostat stops heating.
