Description

Control and isolate a suitable high-powered cooking appliance with the BG Evolve PCDSB72B-01 satin brass 45A double-pole cooker switch. Designed for compatible electric cookers and ovens, it provides a clearly accessible wall-mounted control point for switching the appliance supply on or off.

The double-pole switching mechanism disconnects both the live and neutral conductors when switched off, providing more complete appliance isolation than a single-pole switch. Its large rocker is easy to operate, while clear ON and OFF markings help users identify the current switch position.

A flush-mounted LED power indicator provides a convenient visual indication at the switch. Its low-profile design is integrated into the front of the accessory, helping users see when the controlled cooker circuit is switched on.

Finished in contemporary satin brass, the large decorative plate brings a warmer metallic detail to kitchens and open-plan living spaces. It coordinates particularly well with brass handles, taps, lighting fittings and matching satin brass sockets or switches from the BG Evolve collection.

The low-profile screwless front plate clips securely over the installed switch base, hiding the fixing screws for a cleaner wall finish. It can be removed during painting or redecorating, allowing the wired base to remain installed while helping protect the decorative satin brass surface.

Installation is supported by inline, colour-coded terminals that help electricians identify the connections clearly. Captive backed-out terminal screws reduce the risk of screw loss, while fixing screws and installation instructions are supplied.

The switch includes twin earth terminals, supporting suitable high-integrity earthing arrangements. Its generous terminal capacity accommodates up to four 4mm², three 6mm² or one 16mm² conductor, subject to the circuit design and installation requirements.

Rated at 45A and 250V AC, the PCDSB72B-01 complies with BS EN 60669-1. It has an IP20 rating for protected indoor locations and is intended for fixed wall installation by a suitably qualified electrician.

The large plate measures approximately 146mm high, 86mm wide and 30mm deep. A minimum 47mm mounting box is required, so the available box depth, cable space and terminal clearance should be checked before installation.

FAQ's

What is the BG PCDSB72B-01 used for?

It is primarily used as a wall-mounted isolation and control switch for compatible high-powered electric cookers and ovens.

What does double pole mean?

Double-pole switching disconnects both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is turned off, providing fuller isolation of the connected appliance.

What is the switch rating?

The official technical specification lists a rating of 45A at 250V AC.

Does the switch have an indicator?

Yes. A flush, low-power LED indicator is built into the front of the switch to provide a visible power indication.

Does the PCDSB72B-01 include a 13A socket?

No. This model is a dedicated large-plate 45A double-pole switch without an additional 13A socket outlet. Customers requiring a combined cooker switch and socket should select the appropriate cooker-control-unit model.

Is the satin brass front plate screwless?

Yes. The decorative front plate clips over the installed base and conceals the mounting screws.

Can the front plate be removed for decorating?

Yes. The screwless plate can be unclipped during painting or redecorating while the electrical base remains installed.

Does it have twin earth terminals?

Yes. Twin earth terminals are fitted as standard for suitable high-integrity earthing arrangements.

What cable sizes do the terminals accept?

BG lists terminal capacity for:

  • Four 4mm² conductors
  • Three 6mm² conductors
  • One 16mm² conductor

The correct conductor size and circuit arrangement must be confirmed by the installer.

What mounting-box depth is required?

The PCDSB72B-01 requires a minimum 47mm mounting box.

What are the switch dimensions?

The large-plate switch measures approximately:

  • Height: 146mm
  • Width: 86mm
  • Depth: 30mm

Is it suitable for outdoor installation?

No. Its IP20 rating means it is intended for protected indoor locations rather than wet or exposed outdoor areas.

Which electrical standard does it meet?

The official technical sheet lists compliance with BS EN 60669-1 and Intertek licence number 1012.
