When the key card is placed into the switch, the connected electrical supply or control circuit is activated. Removing the card begins a 30-second power-off delay, giving guests time to leave the room safely before the connected lighting or power system switches off. This delay helps prevent occupants from being immediately left in darkness while also reducing unnecessary energy consumption when the room is unoccupied.

The switch has a 16A rating and is designed as a single key card-operated wall switch. It is particularly suitable for hospitality environments where room lighting, selected sockets or an appropriately designed contactor control circuit needs to operate only while the room is occupied.
