Control three separate lighting zones from one stylish wall plate with the BG Evolve PCDDB83B-01 Matt Blue 3 Gang 2 Way Triple LED Dimmer Switch. Designed for modern dimmable lighting, this decorative trailing-edge dimmer combines three independent rotary controls, push on/off switching and a contemporary screwless finish.

The three-gang arrangement is ideal for rooms containing several lighting circuits. One dimmer could control the main ceiling lights, another could operate pendant or wall lighting, and the third could adjust feature, cabinet or accent lighting. This makes the PCDDB83B-01 particularly suitable for kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, home cinemas, hotel rooms and open-plan interiors.

Each dimmer channel supports compatible dimmable LED loads from 5–100W, providing a maximum combined LED capacity of 300W across the three-channel plate. BG’s installation guide also allows up to ten compatible LED lamps per dimmer and up to thirty across the complete plate, provided the individual and total wattage limits are not exceeded.

The intelligent trailing-edge dimming technology offers improved compatibility with modern low-wattage LED lighting. Its low minimum load helps reduce common problems such as flickering, while smooth and silent operation makes the dimmer well suited to bedrooms, lounges and other quiet spaces.

Each rotary control works independently. Turn the relevant knob to raise or lower the brightness of that lighting circuit, then press the knob to switch the lights on or off. This allows three different brightness settings to be created from one convenient wall position.

A built-in soft-start function gradually raises the connected lights to their operating level after switch-on. BG states that this takes approximately one to 1.2 seconds, reducing the sudden stress placed on compatible lamps and potentially helping extend lamp life.

The dimmer also contains overload protection. If an excessive number of lamps or transformers is connected, the electronic protection reduces or switches off the output until the load has been corrected, helping protect the dimmer modules from avoidable failure.

For traditional lighting, BG’s installation guide applies multi-gang derating. On this three-dimmer plate, compatible incandescent and eco-halogen loads are limited to 150W per channel and 450W across the complete plate. Compatible dimmable CFL loads are rated from 5–100W per channel, with up to eight lamps per channel and twenty-four across the plate.

Each channel provides two-way on/off switching capability. A lighting circuit can therefore be switched from a second suitable position when correctly wired. BG specifies that only one dimmer may be installed in each two-way circuit, so the second position should use an appropriate two-way plate switch rather than another dimmer. Brightness remains controlled from the rotary dimmer position.

Finished in distinctive matt blue, the PCDDB83B-01 offers a stylish alternative to standard white, chrome or black electrical accessories. Its contrasting black rotary controls complement contemporary, industrial, minimalist and colour-coordinated interiors.
