Two Independent Lighting Controls

The PCDDB42B-01 contains two separate switch mechanisms, allowing two different lights or lighting zones to be controlled independently.

The switch is rated at 20A and 16AX and operates from a 220–240V electrical supply.

The 16AX rating makes it suitable for appropriate lighting loads that can produce higher current during switching. Each connected circuit must remain within the manufacturer’s published rating and be designed, protected and installed correctly.

Matt Blue Decorative Finish

The deep Matt Blue faceplate creates a distinctive alternative to standard white, chrome or black electrical accessories.

The electrical supply must be safely isolated before removing the faceplate or carrying out installation work.

Captive Backed-Out Terminal Screws

Captive backed-out terminal screws are supplied in a ready-to-wire position and remain retained inside the switch mechanism.

This installer-friendly design helps reduce preparation time and lowers the risk of screws being dropped or lost during fitting.

The published terminal capacity is:

• Two 2.5mm² conductors
• Four 1.0mm² conductors
• One 4.0mm² conductor

Fixing screws and installation instructions are also supplied.

No Earth Terminal Required on the Switch

BG states that the switch itself does not require an earth terminal. This can make it a suitable decorative option for certain older homes where no protective conductor is present at the switch position.

This does not remove the need to assess the complete installation. Metal mounting boxes and other conductive components must still be earthed where required, and older wiring should be inspected by a competent electrician.

Minimum 25mm Back Box

The PCDDB42B-01 requires a minimum 25mm mounting box and uses standard 60.3mm fixing centres.

A deeper 35mm box may provide additional wiring space where several conductors are connected to both switch mechanisms. Suitable mounting options include compatible metal back boxes, dry-lining boxes and surface-mounted pattresses.

IP20 Indoor Installation

The switch carries an IP20 rating and is intended for dry indoor locations.

It is suitable for bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens away from direct water exposure, hallways, offices, hotels and apartment interiors. It should not be installed outdoors or where it may be exposed to rain, splashing water or excessive moisture.

The BG Evolve PCDDB42B-01 is certified to BS EN 60669-1 and carries ASTA licence number 1010.

BG provides a 25-year manufacturer warranty, subject to correct installation, appropriate use and its current warranty conditions.
