Single 2-Way Lighting Control

The PCDDB12B-01 contains one rocker mechanism for controlling a single lighting circuit. Its 2-way configuration allows the connected light to be operated from two different locations when paired with another compatible 2-way switch.

This clip-on design is also useful during decorating. The electrical base can remain installed while the Matt Blue plate is removed, then the decorative front can be refitted once painting or wallpapering is complete.

The electrical supply must always be isolated before removing the front plate or carrying out installation work.

20A 16AX Electrical Rating

The BG Evolve PCDDB12B-01 is rated at 20A and 16AX and operates from a 220–240V supply. The 16AX rating supports suitable lighting loads that may draw increased current during switching, provided the circuit remains within the manufacturer’s specification.

The switch is intended for fixed lighting circuits and is not a dimmer, smart switch, timer or motion sensor.

Captive Backed-Out Terminals

Captive backed-out terminal screws are retained within the switch mechanism and supplied in a ready-to-wire position. This helps speed up installation and reduces the risk of terminal screws being dropped or lost while the switch is being fitted.

BG lists the terminal capacity as:

• Two 2.5mm² conductors
• Four 1.0mm² conductors
• One 4.0mm² conductor

No Earth Terminal on the Switch

BG states that the switch mechanism itself does not require an earth terminal. This may make it suitable for certain older properties where no protective conductor is present at the switch position, subject to the condition and safety of the existing installation.

This does not remove the need to earth a metal back box or other conductive components where required. Existing wiring should be assessed by a competent electrician before installation.
