This intelligent trailing-edge dimmer replaces a conventional rotary control with a modern black touch panel. Customers can switch compatible lighting on and off, increase or reduce brightness and quickly recall minimum or maximum output using simple touch commands. Its reflective Polished Copper screwless plate makes it an attractive choice for contemporary homes, apartments, hotels, restaurants and premium commercial interiors.

Simple Touch Lighting Control

The black central control panel is divided into upper and lower touch areas, giving users intuitive control over the connected lighting.

Available functions include:

• Briefly touching either area to switch the lights on or off
• Returning the lights to their previous brightness level
• Pressing and holding the upper area to increase brightness
• Pressing and holding the lower area to reduce brightness
• Double-tapping the upper area to select maximum brightness
• Double-tapping the lower area to select minimum brightness
• Starting from minimum brightness when the upper control is held while the lights are off

These controls allow the room’s light level to be adjusted without a projecting rotary knob, helping the accessory maintain a clean and contemporary appearance.

Intelligent Trailing-Edge Dimming

The PCDCPTDM1B-01 uses intelligent trailing-edge dimming technology. It is designed for compatible dimmable LED lamps, dimmable compact fluorescent lamps, incandescent lighting and suitable halogen loads.

The permitted load range per dimmer module is:

• Dimmable LED: 5–100W
• Dimmable CFL: 5–100W
• Tungsten or incandescent: 5–200W
• Halogen: 20–200W
• Maximum dimmable LED quantity: up to 10 compatible lamps

The connected lamps must be specifically designed for dimming and compatible with a trailing-edge control. The total circuit load must remain within the applicable minimum and maximum ratings.

200W Maximum Traditional Lighting Load

BG describes the product as a 200W touch dimmer, with the maximum rating applying to suitable incandescent and traditional lighting loads.

For compatible dimmable LED lighting, the maximum permitted load is 100W rather than 200W. Customers and installers should therefore calculate the total connected wattage according to the exact lamp technology being used.

Master Touch Dimmer Operation

The PCDCPTDM1B-01 is the master version of the touch dimmer.

For a one-way circuit, the master unit can control the light independently from one wall position. For 2-way control from two positions, the master must be paired with a compatible BG secondary touch dimmer at the second location.

The master unit must not be combined with:

• A conventional mechanical light switch
• A standard rotary dimmer
• Another master touch dimmer
• An incompatible third-party dimmer control

A compatible secondary touch dimmer is required where the same lighting circuit must be operated and dimmed from a second position.
