Description

BG Evolve PCDCPKYCSB-01 Polished Copper 16A Key Card Switch

Improve energy management in guest rooms while maintaining a premium interior finish with the BG Evolve PCDCPKYCSB-01 Polished Copper 16A Hotel Key Card Switch.

Designed for hotels and managed accommodation, the switch activates the connected room power circuit when a guest inserts their key card. When the card is removed, a built-in 30-second delay keeps the supply active briefly before switching it off, giving guests time to leave the room without being immediately left in darkness.

The reflective Polished Copper screwless plate and contrasting black card module create a stylish alternative to conventional white hotel switches, making it suitable for boutique hotels, serviced apartments, premium student accommodation and modern hospitality refurbishment projects.

Key Card-Activated Room Power

The PCDCPKYCSB-01 is designed to activate a connected electrical supply when a hotel key card is inserted into the front slot.

This occupancy-based operation can help reduce unnecessary energy consumption by preventing selected lighting and electrical equipment from remaining powered after the guest leaves the room. When the card is removed, the switch begins its timed power-off sequence.

It can form part of a controlled supply for suitable room equipment such as:

  • Guest-room lighting circuits
  • Bedside and decorative lighting
  • Suitable socket or appliance circuits
  • Television and entertainment supplies
  • Air-conditioning control circuits
  • Hotel-room energy-management systems

The final connected load and switching arrangement must remain within the manufacturer’s published ratings and be designed by a qualified electrical professional.

30-Second Power-Off Delay

Removing the key card does not disconnect the room supply immediately. The built-in 30-second power-off delay allows guests time to collect their belongings and leave the room before the controlled lighting or electrical supply switches off.

This feature is especially valuable in:

  • Hotel bedrooms
  • Serviced apartments
  • Student accommodation
  • Holiday apartments
  • Guest houses
  • Hostels
  • Residential care accommodation
  • Managed staff accommodation

The delay provides a more comfortable guest experience while retaining the energy-saving benefits of occupancy-controlled power.

Locator LED for Night-Time Use

An integrated locator LED helps guests identify the key-card slot in a dark or unfamiliar room.

This is useful when guests arrive at night and need to activate the room lighting before they can clearly see the switch position. The locator light remains discreetly integrated into the black card module, preserving the clean appearance of the Polished Copper plate.

16A Key Card Switch

The key-card module is rated at 16A and operates from a 220–240V AC supply. BG’s technical information lists maximum connected-load ratings of:

  • 1800W for resistive loads
  • 800W for inductive loads

The published wattage limits must be observed even though the switch carries a nominal 16A rating. Where the total room demand exceeds these limits, the circuit should be designed to operate an appropriate contactor or control system rather than switching the full load directly through the key-card module.

Specification

The BG Evolve PCDCPKYCSB-01 is a Polished Copper 16A hotel key-card switch designed to activate a controlled room-power supply when a guest inserts their key card. It includes a night-time locator LED, black Euro module insert, screwless clip-on plate and captive terminal screws. The switch is rated for up to 1800W resistive or 800W inductive loads, requires a minimum 47mm back box, complies with BS EN 60669-2-1 and carries a 25-year BG guarantee.
