Description

The BG CUR6330A-02 63A bidirectional Type A RCD provides reliable 30mA earth-leakage protection for modern domestic, commercial and renewable-energy electrical installations. It continually monitors the current flowing through the live and neutral conductors and rapidly disconnects the supply when a potentially dangerous residual-current imbalance is detected.

Its bidirectional design allows the device to operate where electrical current may flow in either direction. This makes the CUR6330A-02 suitable for compatible solar PV systems, EV charging installations and other electrical systems that may import, generate or export power.

The double-pole switching mechanism disconnects both the live and neutral conductors when the RCD trips. Rated at 63A with a 30mA residual-current sensitivity, the electro-mechanical device has an official trip speed of less than 0.1 seconds, helping provide responsive protection against earth-leakage faults and the risk of electric shock.

Specification

The BG CUR6330A-02 is a 63A, 30mA Type A bidirectional residual-current device designed to protect people and electrical installations against earth-leakage faults. Its bidirectional operation makes it suitable for compatible installations where power can flow in either direction, including solar PV and EV charging systems.

The device has a double-pole mechanism that disconnects both live and neutral conductors when it trips. It occupies two DIN-rail modules, accepts conductors up to 35mm², operates at 230V and has a trip speed of less than 0.1 seconds.

FAQ's

What does the BG CUR6330A-02 do?

It monitors the balance of current flowing through the live and neutral conductors. If it detects a 30mA residual-current or earth-leakage fault, it disconnects the electrical supply to help reduce the risk of electric shock.

What is the current rating?

The CUR6330A-02 has a rated current of 63A and a residual-current sensitivity of 30mA.

Is the CUR6330A-02 bidirectional?

Yes. The RCD can operate where electrical power may flow in either direction, making it suitable for compatible solar PV, EV charging and renewable-energy installations.

Is it a Type A RCD?

Yes. BG identifies the CUR6330A-02 as a bidirectional Type A RCD for modern electrical installations.

Is it a double-pole device?

Yes. Its double-pole design disconnects both the live and neutral conductors when the RCD operates.

Does this RCD protect against overloads?

No. The CUR6330A-02 provides residual-current and earth-leakage protection. Unlike an RCBO, it does not combine earth-leakage protection with overload and short-circuit protection, so correctly selected overcurrent protection is also required.

How quickly does it trip?

BG lists a trip speed of less than 0.1 seconds.

How much consumer-unit space does it require?

It occupies two DIN-rail modules and has a width of approximately 36mm.

What is the maximum cable capacity?

The terminals accept one conductor up to 35mm², with a specified terminal torque of 2.5Nm.

What operating temperature does it support?

The device is designed to operate at ambient temperatures from -25°C to +40°C.

What standard does it comply with?

The official technical specification lists compliance with IEC/EN 61008-1.

What warranty is included?

BG’s circuit-protection range is backed by a ten-year warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s warranty conditions.
