Description
The BG CUC20-02 20A double-pole contactor provides automatic switching control for compatible electrical circuits installed inside a suitable consumer unit or enclosure. Instead of operating the connected circuit manually, the contactor can be controlled by a compatible timer, thermostat, switch or control system using its 230V AC coil.
When the control coil is energised, the contactor closes its two normally open contacts and supplies power to the connected circuit. When the control signal is removed, the contacts open again. This makes it useful for electrical installations that need equipment to switch automatically according to a schedule, temperature setting or external control command.
Typical applications may include suitably designed lighting circuits, electric heating controls, ventilation fans, pumps, signage and other automated electrical loads. The connected equipment, switching frequency and load characteristics must be checked by the installer to confirm that they are suitable for the contactor’s 20A rating.
The double-pole design switches two conductors at the same time, while the normally open contact arrangement means the connected circuit remains switched off until the 230V AC coil receives a control signal. This provides a simple and reliable method of separating the control circuit from the electrical load being switched.
