Create clean, evenly diffused bathroom illumination with the Astro Mallon LED Ceiling Light 1125014. The low-profile circular design measures approximately 330mm in diameter and projects only 60mm from the mounting surface. This makes it a practical choice for rooms where a pendant light would hang too low or where a discreet surface-mounted bathroom ceiling light is preferred.

Astro lists three colour-temperature and lumen combinations for the integrated LED: approximately 670 lumens at 2700K, 730 lumens at 3000K and 733 lumens at 4000K.

Product code 1125014 is the Polished Chrome version of the Astro Mallon LED.

White Glass Diffuser

The Astro Mallon uses a white glass diffuser to conceal and soften the integrated LED light source.

Three Colour-Temperature Options

2700K Warm White

The 2700K setting produces approximately 670 lumens and creates a softer, warmer atmosphere. It is well suited to relaxing bathrooms, hotel en-suites and interiors with timber, warm metallic or traditional finishes.

3000K Warm White

The 3000K setting produces approximately 730 lumens. It offers a clean warm-white appearance that coordinates well with polished chrome, white ceramic fittings and modern bathroom tiles.

4000K Neutral White

The 4000K setting produces approximately 733 lumens and gives a brighter, more functional light appearance. It may suit commercial bathrooms, changing areas and contemporary interiors where clearer neutral-white illumination is preferred.

High CRI 90 Colour Rendering

The integrated LED has a high CRI 90 colour-rendering rating.

A CRI of 90 helps skin tones, bathroom finishes, tiles, towels and decorative materials appear more natural than they may under lower-CRI lighting. This can be particularly beneficial in bathrooms where accurate colour appearance is useful around mirrors and grooming areas.

Astro also specifies three-step MacAdam colour consistency, helping provide a controlled and consistent light colour.

Dimmable Bathroom Ceiling Light

The Astro Mallon LED is dimmable using compatible trailing-edge phase-control equipment.

Dimming allows the illumination to be adjusted for different activities. A higher setting can provide practical general lighting for cleaning and daily routines, while a reduced level can create a softer atmosphere during an evening bath.

The selected dimmer must be suitable for LED lighting and compatible with the Mallon’s integrated control gear.

No Separate LED Driver Required

Astro specifies that a separate external LED driver is not required.

The LED module and its control equipment are incorporated into the fitting, allowing the Mallon to be connected to a suitable wired mains supply without a separately selected constant-current driver.

This simplifies specification compared with low-voltage LED fittings that require separate control gear.

IP44 Splash-Resistant Protection

The Astro Mallon has an IP44 rating when installed in its specified ceiling-mounted orientation.

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than approximately 1mm and against splashing water from different directions. This makes the Mallon more suitable for bathroom environments than a standard IP20 interior ceiling light.

It is splash resistant rather than fully waterproof and should not be submerged or exposed to high-pressure water jets.

Suitable for Bathroom Zones 2 and 3

Astro specifies the Mallon LED as suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3.

This makes it appropriate for many bathroom ceiling positions, subject to correct placement and compliance with current electrical regulations. Astro does not list product code 1125014 for bathroom zone 1.

The final installation position should be assessed by a suitably qualified electrician.

Ceiling or Wall Mounting

The Mallon can be installed on a ceiling or mounted on a wall.

However, Astro’s technical datasheet specifically states “wall mount – reduced IP.” This means the full IP44 classification should not automatically be assumed when the product is installed vertically on a wall.

For bathroom installations where IP44 protection is required, ceiling mounting is the clearest specified configuration. Wall-mounting suitability and the resulting IP performance should be confirmed for the intended location before installation.

Low-Profile 330mm Circular Design

The official Astro technical information lists approximate dimensions of:

The shallow 60mm projection helps the Mallon remain close to the ceiling, making it useful in bathrooms with lower ceiling heights or where a streamlined appearance is required.

The 330mm diameter provides a substantial diffused lighting surface without the drop associated with a bathroom pendant.

Surface-Mounted Installation

The Mallon is a surface-mounted ceiling or wall fitting.

It does not require a recessed cut-out or deep ceiling void. The electrical connection and mounting components are concealed behind the main fitting, while the chrome surround and glass diffuser remain visible.

This can make the Mallon suitable for solid ceilings, concrete surfaces and refurbishment projects where installing recessed downlights may not be practical.

Class II Double-Insulated Construction

The Astro Mallon LED is a Class II double-insulated fitting.

Class II construction provides additional electrical insulation and does not require a protective earth connection to the fitting itself. The complete electrical circuit and any unused protective conductor must still be installed and terminated safely in accordance with current wiring regulations.

The Mallon is designed for a permanent wired-in power connection.

Unswitched Light Fitting

The Mallon does not include an integrated pull cord, toggle switch or occupancy sensor.

It must be controlled through an external:

Astro’s technical datasheet gives the integrated LED module an approximate rated lifetime of 50,000 hours.

The incorporated driver is also listed with an approximate 50,000-hour lifetime. Actual operating life may vary according to installation conditions, ambient temperature, dimming use and the number of switching cycles.
