Since the 28th of September this year, the new electrical safety regulations in Amendment 2 to the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations have been in place. Regulation 421.1.7 mandates the use of AFDDs (arc fault detection devices) for all socket outlet circuits rated up to 32A in houses in multiple occupation (also known as HMOs).
Arc fault detection devices from Wylex are single module, have an RCBO included and are easy to install, they also include a self-testing function which operates every 15 hours.
